My career took a number of routes before I settled on accountancy. I have been a police officer and a child minder! However, the majority of my working life has been in finance. I worked in a building society for 20 years and was promoted to Assistant Manager within 4 years.
I starting working in Accountancy in 2004, and passed my AAT exams in 2007. I love the variety that working in practice brings, dealing with different clients each with their own unique way of running their businesses. Knowing I may have helped with the success of their business, even if in a small way, is very rewarding.
At Root Accountants our aim is to be that little bit different. We want to be approachable and build long lasting, empathetic relationship with our clients. We want people to see that we can work with them to make a difference.
Outside of work I lead a very busy life, I have 2 girls and a dog to look after! I also enjoy most sports, watching and playing, Newcastle United being the football team I support after growing up in the North East. My latest challenge is to play golf and I’m realising what a frustrating game that is!
